The R.E.E.G.O. Pro by Astronomy Expert represents a new generation of LED collimators, entirely designed, developed and manufactured in Italy! It is a versatile and multipurpose collimator, compatible with almost all OTAs on the market and with almost any common optical scheme. Entirely made of CNC machined aluminum, and equipped with a special soft case and a practical strap, it is equipped with an integrated and replaceable CR2032 battery. The R.E.E.G.O. it is compatible with all 2 "eyepiece holders.
The strength of the R.E.E.G.O. Pro is represented by the speed and precision of the collimations it allows to obtain; from this derives its double acronym (R.E.E.G.O = Recognisement of Elements Extraxiality through Glows Observation; R.E.E.G.O = Recognisement of Elements Extraxiality by Glance Observation). Compared to traditional laser collimators, R.E.E.G.O. it is much more practical and precise, as it is less subject to angular micro-variations when inserting it inside the focuser, as well as extremely resistant to any form of skew or inaccuracy in processing and assembly of focuser and intubation. The R.E.E.G.O. moreover, it does not fear shocks or mistreatment, and does not require the special precautions typical of laser collimators.

To obtain high quality collimation even in broad daylight, simply enter R.E.E.G.O. Pro in your focuser and follow the dedicated instruction manual for your OTA. This collimator in particular has two basic operating configurations: a refractor mode, with active white LEDs, and a Newtonian / reflector mode, with active red LEDs. To this is added a third operating mode, with LEDs off, residual and dedicated to the other OTAs.

The R.E.E.G.O. it has been specially designed to work best with all types of refractors, be they achromatic, ED or apochromatic, even flattened and / or reduced.
In refractor mode, the collimator is able to allow a simple and quick check of the alignment of all the optical elements contained in the cell, as well as of the correct collimation of the latter with respect to the focuser. The system is based on a series of reflections produced on each air-glass surface by a group of high-brightness LEDs, specially designed and oriented, capable of developing a precise apparent geometry. A quick visual check of this geometry is able to give precise information on which adjustments are necessary to bring the instrument to perfect optimization! Particularly suitable for all non-flattened instruments, whether these doublets or triplets, the R.E.E.G.O. it is also absolutely suitable for use on flattened systems. For the latter, it will be simply necessary to observe with greater attention the geometric figure reproduced by the R.E.E.G.O. LEDs, as it tends to be more complex in structure than that traced by the lenses of doublets and triplets, as well as having a greater angular extension.


R.E.E.G.O. Pro with OTA Newton
The use of the R.E.E.G.O. Pro on Newtonian telescopes guarantees great versatility, both in the use of the collimator on traditional instruments (typically equipped with focal ratios greater than F5), provided with only the central marker on the primary mirror, and in use on wider telescopes (from F4 to minors), which require significant offsets and are therefore sometimes equipped with centering markers on the secondary mirror. In all cases, the activation of the red LEDs will allow to achieve an almost perfect result, thanks to the special internal design of the collimator!
The use of the R.E.E.G.O. Pro with Newtonian telescopes, whether they are equipped with a sticker for controlling the offset on the secondary or not, it is therefore extremely easy and intuitive. Thanks to the use of special illuminated indicators, in fact, it will always be clear not which screw to act on, but even in which direction to move the adjustment screw itself. A simple manual supplied with it allows you to obtain amazing results in no time!

R.E.E.G.O. Pro with OTA RC, Cassegrain and Cassegrain-derivatives
Have you ever had trouble collimating a Ritchey-Chretien telescope or Dall-Kirkham? For all owners of this type of instrument, collimation has always been an extremely complex and difficult activity. But not only that: the adoption of an adequate collimator, actually working on this kind of instruments, is typically also extremely expensive and actually obliges you to use collimators of renowned brands! Thanks to the R.E.E.G.O. on the other hand, it is possible to achieve a quality result comparable to that obtained with the famous Takahashi collimators, with much greater versatility and at a cost that is even lower than that of a quality laser collimator!
The R.E.E.G.O. Pro is designed to work perfectly on most RC, Cassegrain and Cassegrain-derived telescopes, as long as they have a central marker on the secondary mirror. In particular, compatibility with RC TS, Tecnosky and GSO is guaranteed 100%.
In some of the latest RC TS, Tecnosky and GSO OTAs, in particular on the 8 "and 10" tubes, a removable extension of the primary lens hood has been introduced, which can make it difficult to use R.E.E.G.O. Its purpose is to prevent internal reflections in observing exclusively large and bright objects such as the Moon and the Sun; the removal of this extension tube of the lens hood does not involve any variation in the quality of the deep sky shooting and allows to always have a full and perfect compatibility with the R.E.E.G.O. This operation can be performed manually in a very simple way, carefully and carefully unscrewing the extension of the lens hood, and then removing it, without having to disassemble the secondary or other parts of the optical tube: just insert your hand between the secondary and inner edge of the intubation.
It is ALSO important to point out that the re-collimation of an RC should only be performed in the presence of a significant alteration of the quality of the corrected field (distortions at the edges that are too important or not radially symmetrical). Furthermore, the primary is often pre-collimated at the factory and, especially in RC systems not equipped with separate focuser and primary adjustment, the collimation of the latter should only be changed where strictly necessary.

R.E.E.G.O. Pro with OTA reflex reflectors
The R.E.E.G.O. it is also compatible with the Schmidt-Cassegrain and Maksutov-Cassegrain type reflectors; for the latter, however, since it is an optical configuration traditionally lacking the center marker on the secondary, the advantages are minor compared to those that R.E.E.G.O. on other types of OTA. In this case, the collimator can be used both in LED off mode, thus operating in a manner similar to a Ceshire type eyepiece, and in red LEDs on (newton / reflector mode).
